System is slow, what to look for

Hello

My PC (I5 with 8 gig) is running slow this morning. I have win7 64
Antivirus as found no treat.

What do I look for
- I have install Process Explorer:

Other test to do?

It could be any number of things. First go through your programs list and delete any software that you don't use anymore. Then check your system for any malware, spyware and adware on your system. Use malwarebytes, superantispyware which are 2 of the most commonly used. Then defrag your hard drive and reboot and check for sluggishness.

Was it just slow this morning , or has this been "building" over time? I agree with bassfisher6522 for the remedy. I'd add a run of Ccleaner myself but thats just me. Have you used a sfc /scannow lately? Or even a free space wipe?

You could also try:

• Disk Defragmentation
• AV Scans - Malware, Spyware and Anti-Virus
• Reducing Startup Programs

Unless arjfca just changed/posted his system specs, please note that he has a 120GB SSD.

How much free space is left on your SSD? I trust that you don't have system restore enabled with only 120GB. Restore points eat up a lot of space. Turn restore off & get rid of them. If you want the security of system restore, turn it back on & create a restore point. Just keep one point at a time.

Are you using a paging file? This takes up lots of space. Try "no paging file" & see how your system works. If you must use a paging file, keep it limited to 1GB or less.
