System partition full!

When I installed W7 I created a 15GB partition for it. All my apps and data files are installed in other partitions (e.g., D:\Apps for programs). Pagefile.sys is also on D:, as is the TEMP folder.

Recently I discovered that the C:\Windows folder has swollen to nearly the whole partition -- just 300MB free space, even after Disk Cleanup and CCleaner. W7 seems to be still working fine.

I've read that the Winsxs folder is known to grow -- mine is 6.5GB.

Is this cause for concern? If so, what's the solution?

Your Windows partition needs be at no less than 100g.

@Lomai: I'm not reinstalling, so I need to preserve the OS. The MVP guy said:

@theog: I got the 15GB size from MS recommendations. Where do you get the 100GB figure?

The smallest size I'd recommend for a Win7 OS partition is 30gb. And that's if you are installing only your programs onto the partition, making a separate data partition for User files.

@Lomai: I have only the English lpk, and winsxs\ManifestCache has only 40KB.

Well, if 7 stops working, I'll rearrange the partitions to give it more space.

You might also try TFC by Oldtimer. It is more thorough than CCleaner or Disk Cleaner and may give you a little more breathing room.
