well i want to create a system repair disk but i want to create it on a memory stick

1. Prepare a USB stick
2. Copy the System Repair disk to the USB stick.

Step 1. Prepare a USB Stick
Insert USB stick.
WIN | type CMD.EXE | no NOT hit Enter |
Right-click on CMD.EXE in the resulting list | Select Run as Administrator
Enter following Commands:
Diskpart
list disk
select disk 2 (2 is an example-use the number that corresponds to the usb drive)
detail disk (just to make sure you got the correct one)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
format fs=ntfs
active
assign
exit
exit

Now the USB stick is prepared.

2. Insert your System Repair disk
With Windows Explorer copy everything from the disk to the usb stick

That's it. You now have the System Repair disk on a USB.

You will only need a 256 MB usb stick. Of course, you can use one much larger.

Absolutely false.

Before I posted I made one again.

Remember you are putting the System Repair disk on to the USB.

What you can do is insert a system repair disk into an optical drive and then with Windows Explorer you can see how many bytes are actually used.

Small size USB sticks do not support NTFS format.

Theog,

Just got back to where I have my collection of USB sticks.

I have a 128 MB USB.
I have a 256 MB USB.

I formatted both of them NTFS with DiskManagement and also with DISKPART. In fact also formatted the 256 MB using the Win explorer, right-click and choose format.

I put a primary active partition on the 256 MB.
Copied over the System Repair Disk.
Booted from the USB.

Worked perfectly.

You have that option on your USB stick already.

Theog,
Probieren geht ueber studieren.

In other words, actual, real-world practice is better than studying.

The trouble is you have an inaccurate reference which is not true for Window 7.

I woulld recommend locating a small usb stick and simply formatting with which every Win 7 method you prefer. Choose the ntfs format.
Examine the usb afterwards with Win Explorer, copy, paste or whatever to id.

As said, I now have a 256MB usb stick with the System Repair Disk recovery environment on it and I can boot from and use that USB

The sequence of screens you will see will be a little different when you :
insert the system repair disk,
Shutdown your computer.
Powerup you computer.

Be sure to tap any key before 8 seconds expire when you see a msg on the screen about booting from cd/dvd.

Later I'll mention to some of the veterans here that we actually do not have a tutorial precisely designed for someone booting from either a system repair disc-either on usb or cd/dvd.

In the meantime simply boot from the usb stick and you want the top radio button which says something about windows install.

Myself, the first time I used a system repair disc, I fumbled around trying to find how to get where I wanted to be.

Here are some links to tutorials which cover the material but not 100% accurately for your case:
