Task Scheduler error.

I have used Task Scheduler before to create automatic restore points every time the computer is switched on.

It doesn't work now, and it gives the message The format of the task is not valid. The following error was reported: (2,8)version:1.4

The task is attached.

Can anyone tell me how I can get it to function again?

Hi Syncopator,

Just my observations
System restore in my opinion is Outdated, and as MS are redacting it in W10 they feel the same way
you are better off using something like Macrium

It can be setup to image as and when you like, and can perform a FULL system image restore <15mins.
Bonus being its on an external device, and your not using the resources on your machine.

Anyway back to your question
just create a task within Task scheduler that has a dependency (trigger) upon sppsvc.exe a delayed startup program.

Thank you Roy. I've been wondering about Macrium and Acronis for some time. Any idea which, if either, is the simpler to use?

I don't understand how to create a restore point, even with that tutorial about creating a task. I think I'll steer clear of that.

Hi Syncopator,

the system restore exe is

C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe


so create task trigger is sppsvc. exe

then Action = run rstrui.exe.

I have used Macrium for a few years for doing image backups & on the odd occasion I have had to reinstall an images it has worked perfectly. So I would recommend it.
