I got task scheduler to run a sync utility when the (on idle) trigger occurs. However, it would trigger while I am watching a full screen movie or video and exit out. Is there anyway to fix this?

If not, I noticed my screen saver doesn't get initialize while watching a movie or video in full screen. Is there a way to set task scheduler to trigger when the screensaver occurs? How about trigger when power management turns off my monitor? I tried looking in Event Viewer for these but was unable to find something that matched.

Well, i found a solution. To answer my own question.

Short answer: Yes, you can trigger based on screensaver.

Long answer: You can, but the screen saver event is not logged by default. To enable logging you need to run gpedit.msc (Local Group Policy Editor). Navigate to Computer configuration > Windows Settings > Advanced Audit Policy Configuration > System Audit Policies > Logon/Logoff. Then in "Audit Other Logon/Logoff Event" check the box for Sucess. Doing so will enable Event logging for the screensaver so you can use it with task scheduler to trigger on the eventID 4802 which occurs when the screensaver starts. For more info

Now my sync utility will run when the screensaver is initialized. I can now watch my movies in peace without being interrupted.

I assume the event log is Security Log? Wouldn't the session locked event work as well (assuming the system was set to lock when the screen saver activates)?

Great post, it opens up some possibilities, thanks!
