Task scheduler

I am having problems with hibernation. At close of using my PC I choose to to Hibernate instead of shutdown, but for some reason the PC wakes up at odd times. I have tried to change settings in the task scheduler to start during daylight hours bur there are some that do not have a trigger time. Any ideas how to ensure that the PC stays in hibernation until I wake it up?

Hello Ron, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could run the lastwake command the next time your computer wakes up to see if it may be able to ID what woke it up.

In addition, these can be helpful if it turns out to be a device that's waking up the computer.

Does it always wake up, or is it only on occasions? Does it wake up at around 3am? If so, you need to check your update settings, as that is the default time for these to be downloaded and installed. See http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2797-windows-update-settings-change.html

So far I cannot find the culprit. Last night it woke up at 11.30pm, other nights the time varies.

So it wakes up at some time every night? And the time is not necessarily the same each time?

What are the results of the lastwake command when ran after the computer wakes up at that time?

The cmd prompt came as " wake history count - 1"

If you look in the system event log, are there any kernel-power events around the time the system starts?

Hibernation

The events log shows quite a lot of events happening after I hibernate,
Key Management-media events-windows power shell-windows overwrite events-Hardware events-Internet explorer overwrite events.
They all appear to be enabled, can I disable safely.
