And in addition to TeamViewer - Free Remote Control, Remote Access & Online Meetings they also wanted me to go to www.support.me which appears to be a support engineer's (ie their hacker's) log in page. If you tell them you don't have a computer they'll probably put the phone down on you, and get onto ringing the next potential victim. The first time they rang me I told them I was a computer engineer and that I had no virus issues - they simply put the phone down. If you have the spare time then waste their time by stringing out the phone call, like I did the second time they phoned me that week!

TeamViewer Scam

echrada, now that these scammers are apparently expanding, is there a reporting agency in your country such as NFA in the U.K.? Home | Action Fraud

In fact, if Seven Forums members from other countries have information on similar reporting agencies, please let us know.
The scam's here in Germany, too - trouble is, report it to the Agency and you've definitely got a solid friend for life. Nailing the scammer's IP would be handy, I might dig out the old machine and look for a solution. Time-consuming, and no promises, they may not phone again.

I'm in australia and just got a call from the same people. it sounded legit, they put me onto two different people but as soon as i looked up teamviewer on google it said third party viewer. i thought no way and said my computer was loading slowly, they said its ok and directed me to some other site asking me to download another third party software. i'm not a computer whizz i'll admit but i know a scam when i see one. they asked me to pay for some microsoft software then i said my mums the person who pays for stuff like that. so they'll call back at 8 pm and then i'll have a bit of fun with them my mum has agreed to pretend to be a cop and scare the crap out of them.

Team viewer scam moves to France - careful!

Hi - i was just phoned by someone that had my name saying that a lot of malicious code / viruses were coming from my computer and they were working for Windows operating system helping people sort it out. They noted their company website spicywebtech and asked me to turn on my computer, navigating me to the website teamviewer.com ... i strung it out for a while as it was clearly fishy. They talked a good line however so -
be aware...
woman with an indian accent...
hope someone shuts them down.

I think this game is being played all over the world. Just follow the basic principles - if it's too good to be true then hang up. MS won't phone you on a matter of customer care.

it gets worse, thank goodness this person had come to one of my seminars and remembered what I said or she would have been in big trouble, she called me and told me what happened
She received a phone call claiming it was Microsoft. The person told her that he works for MS and he needs to get onto her computer because MS found that she is infected big time with trojans.
He told her to go to a particular website and download Teamviewer and he would walk her through installing it so he could go onto her computer and fix her.
I had just given a seminar and talked about this at the library I gave it in.
So she told Micrososft - cough cough- that she could not do it now and to call back another day- He was very presistant but she again said not now.
Then she called me.
I told her when he calls back, to tell him that Micrososft does not do this and would not even know she had trojans, and if he did not stop bothering her she would report him to the FCC- at that point he hung up.

I actually got a phone call like this and when he got on I told him that is impossible because I do not own a computer- then I heard a "Click" and he was gone, I never heard from him again, what is worse they get dummy telephone numbers so you cannot trace it.

I have been telling my clients to do exactly the same thing, tell them you do not own a pc, this way they will stop calling you.

Hi rcr7,

Please edit your post and remove the link to the site the scammer provided. I'll let the admins know about a potential threat and they might do it before you read this.

Unless, of course you're part of the scam, then you'll be banned.
