Tell me what registry cleaner suites windows 7 ultimate

I am still waiting for someone to make a verifiable case that CCleaner or Auslogics defraggers caused a problem on their computer. These are genius apps that are the leaders of their pack which simply do not make mistakes in my experience.

A few months back, I did some work on a family members laptop. They had all types of performance problems and issues. I got most of them resolved with some updates and some cleanup, some maintenance, etc.

After having everything working good, I decided to push that extra bit further and ran ccleaner against the machine. At that point, numerous errors after bootup, their dial up networking internet connection would no longer launch and the box just didn't run well. Had to resort to a System Restore to go back prior to the ccleaner changes and everything started working correctly again. Ran ccleaner again against the machine, and the same thing broke again that broke the first time. So, restored 1 more time and left well enough alone.

Which tab were you using?

This is so unusual that I would have printed out the cleanup list and restored each item individually until I confirmed that it was the deletion of one of them (file or key) that caused the prob.

Duly noted.

I really wish that I could provide the details. It was months ago and I obviously don't have the machine anymore.

With regards to the tabs, it wouldn't have been anything advanced...but more a standard scan and clean...that's all that I would typically do with that product.

My general opinion is that if it had worked, I wouldn't have noticed any difference. So, why risk it?

I will vouch that CCleaner is a solid product all around, and as long as there are no existing issues, you will not have any issues using the product. But, I would still warn against using the Reg Cleaner in it, there are some options in there that are fine to clean out, but some that might potentially cause an issue depending on the state of the system etc..

The system cleaner side is rock solid and I recommend it.

If you talk about reg cleaner that is reliable. I'd day CC cleaner.
But if your pc doesn't have issues with registry, you don't even need one :)

Live Onecare is replaced by free Microsoft Security Essentials, highly recommended by the pros.

That Live Onecare won't even run for me, gives an error.

If you are referring to Live OneCare the software, then correct, it will not work. It is no longer supported.

You need to switch to Microsoft Security Essentials, which is Free.

If you are referring to the Live OneCare Safety Scanner. There are 2 websites.
For XP and another for Vista/7.
