Hello,

I want to connect the Teredo media. (the Teredo device is enabled)
ipconfig /all :
Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 12:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

How can I connect the media?

Also, what should be the value for the "network address" property in Teredo device (see device manager, hidden device) ?
The value was blank, but now it says it cannot be blank.

Thanks,

Patrick

For toredo, it says media disconnected. There must be a way to connect it...

On my girlfriend computer (exactly the same computer), Toredo is connected.

The Teredo interface is used for IPV6 only. Unless you're doing Homegroups to another Windows 7 computer the Teredo interface isn't used.

When it's not used, is it supposed to be "Media disconnected"?

If not, how can I connect the Teredo media?

In Device Manager it says Teredo Tunnelling Pseudo-Interface. So that might mean, it not a physical media, rather a logical one.

You don't actually connect it. It's a virtual interface. Unless you are doing IPV6 and Homegroups it won't show as connected.

I'm using IPv6 and it still shows media disconnected for me. Everything is working perfectly by the way. No problems at all on 5 different machines using Homegroups.

I tried to google this but can't come up with anything.

I read (I can't remember where) that the Teredo Tunnel is used to pass IPV6 traffic over an IPV4 tunnel. It may not show up as connected unless the machines are on different subnets.

Yes I read all about what IPv6 does and why it needs to do it, but how could trogne's girl friend's machine be connected to a different subnet? I'm also pretty sure that trogne's machine is working fine and he just wants to know why her's says one thing and his another.

I would like to get to the bottom of this. I would like to see a screen shot of trogne's girl friends ip/config showing the media connected, and also a screen shot of her Device Manager showing the expanded view listing of the network interface connections to see if we can spot a difference in her set up.

I was wondering if the Teredo Interface shows up as connected when you have multiple W7 machines actively connected to a Homegroup. I have a combo Homegroup/workgroup at home (3 or 4 W7 and 1 XP). I never thought to look and see if the Teredo Interfaces show up as connected or not.

Screen shots would indeed be helpful.

I was thinking the same thing and already tested that theory out. It seems to makes no difference at all on any of my Homegroup machines. What does his G/f's machine have connected that we don't?

From what I can tell from searching TechNet, unless two IPV6 machines are talking to each other over an IP4 NAT'ed connection, the Teredo should never show as connected. It's only used to pass IPV6 over an IPV4 tunnel via NAT.

ISATAP is almost the same except it doesn't handle NAT.

I found pretty good doc on it:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/2/4/124331bf-7970-4315-ad18-0c3948bdd2c4/IPv6Trans.doc

I definitely want to see screen shots!

I read that also and so I tried moving files and streaming from one machine to the other but the ip/config did not change at all. Now i'm really getting curious and a bit confused about what this could be. Probably something simple that we just havn't figured out yet.

Thank you all.
In devices manager, hidden devices : Teredo.
In the properties of Teredo device, there's a box for a value, and it is blank.
I tried entering something, but then it says it can't be blank. So I have to enter something.
What should I write there?

Don't write anything. Any values in there are set automatically and should not be tampered with. The Teredo adapter should not show connected. That's what we've been trying to explain.

If you're girlfriend's computer shows the Teredo adapter or ISATAP adapter as connected then she's doing something different. Get a screen shot and we'll check it out.

Here's what's important to remember: Just because yours looks a little different doesn't mean there's a problem with your system. The media disconnected indication on the Teredo or ISATAP interfaces does not mean there's a problem. It's normal.

Does your girlfriend connect to another W7 or Vista or other server system for her job possibly?

No, my girlfriends don't use specific connection.

For the value, I want to leave it blank (like it was), but I can't because of the alert "Can't be blank".
