Hi all, i have encountered the error following:

"the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" after doing chkdsk. Please help. Could not repair the installation with the windows DVD.

If you get access to another computer that is working properly; I would try and download the hard drive diagnostic program onto a flash drive and run it on the computer that isnt working properly and see if it comes up with any errors. Also what are your system specs? and is it a custom built or a oem system?

Oops i knew I forgot to add something.

The hard drive is fine, done the tests. The system resevered partition is missing.

Yes i tried that and it didn't work. I connected it to another computer and the "boot" flag is missing - "active" is there.

Oh, you connected what to another computer?

Yes i connected it to a working computer.

You mean to say you removed the unbootable drive and placed it in another
PC? In that case it shouldn't display a Boot flag, I don't think, since the system is booted to anther drive.
Where was the drive when you tried Startup Repair?
