Hello again,

Looking to move my primary W7 machine to SSD in March.
Plan on a small one, probably 32gigs for W7, CS4 Design Premium, etc. etc.
Is this too small, do I have to go 64gigs?
Also, most of the reviews out there, at least on New Egg are average except for the Intel ones.
Any thoughts., direction, or should I just hold off another 6 months?

thanks,

fmg

30gig is OK. I have win7 in a 40GB partition on a 80GB Intel SSD and use about 15GB (with a healthy selection of programs installed). This Intel is a first generation but works very well. I have the same again for a Vista laptop that is not yet installed. I also have an OCZ Vertex 60GB for Win7 in my Dell box in Germany.
For Win7, I would probably go with the 30GB OCZ Vertex because it has Trim. Just make sure you get firmware level 1.4 at least. At NewEgg, they sometimes offer it for $99. This all assumes that it will go into a desktop where there is also a HDD for volume data.
If you buy it from NewEgg, order the brackets to fit it into the 3.5" bay and the mobo cable at the same time.

One bracket example (of many): Newegg.com - BYTECC Bracket-35225 2.5 Inch HDD/SSD Mounting Kit For 3.5" Drive Bay or Enclosure - HDD Accessories

Cable: Newegg.com - OKGEAR 18" SATA II cable with metal latch,UV BLUE Model GC18AUBM - Cables

I guess there is more to this than just plug it in & do a clean install of everything? What is Trim & what do you mean by the HDD volume mention?
Thanks for the product links!

You better hurry, Newegg has the habit of changing the prices every second day.

For Trim, see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIM

Volume data - I mean your own data like pictures, music, videos that take a lot of disk space. Those have to be moved to a normal HDD which is easy. I moved all my own data folders (libraries) to another partition.
