"This computer is not running Genuine Windows" message - still / again

When I got this message earlier this month, I searched around, read the posts here etc. After reading about the problem I let windows install KB3024777 to fix the KB3004394(?) problem.

Everything appeared to work. January updates were installed. This was three days ago. But today I got the message again. Don't know how often the message is supposed to come up. I have since cold booted once and it has not come back. Yet. I completely shut this machine down every day at 1AM and let the bios start it at 7:30AM.

I upgraded this machine from xp by totally wiping the disks and using a retail full win7 pro. At least I think it's a full retail. The other boxes have a small upgrade notice on the box. The OS was installed sometime in the fall of 2013 but i did a full restore in I think 12/2013 to fix some problem I had with Quicken

thx

I'm using AVG

got the real time disabled but still letting the scheduled scans go.

How often does the window usually popup? I've only had this pop up once in now four days since KB3024777 was installed. I'm not getting this everytime I boot unless it goes away after awhile. This computer boots automatically each time well before I get up and use it.

You should re-enable the real-time protection again.

Normally you'll see a warning on every boot, and possibly also a black background and watermark - but it may just be a race condition which is worked around next time the SPP service checks. Such conditions are very hard to pin down, but generally sort themselves out over a few days anyhow.

I fthe problem is what I think it is manual validation will have no effect - but it certainly can't hurt, and may give a little more information if it fails, and the OP posts a new MGADiag report.

well so far it has not shown up again so perhaps Noel's

is what was happening.

Assuming it is gone for good, I have a forum / etiquette question. I could mark this as solved but it seems like that would encourage others to read this which is probably not all that useful. So should I mark as solved or not?

Leave it for a couple of days to see if things level out - if so then mark it as solved. ;)
