TB Portable v60 running Win 7 Pro.

See attachments. The 'MailTo' protocol is there, but under 'Description' it is blank. The 2nd attachment, I checked the 'Email' but it doesn't take. Notice 'System Integration' is grayed out.

Hi Bruce,

it will ONLY find it when your actually running it.

Portable versions of any program are NOT installed as such so when you try to make them defaults it cant find it on your system IT JUST DOESN'T WORK that way

I understand Portable applications (no thanks to M$). But, even when running, email links on web pages aren't responded to in TB when it is running.

I saw that, but the 'mailto' entry (folder) was not under 'Classes'. I did 'add' the mailto 'key' (folder), but I'm not sure how to go from there.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command]
@=""Z:\\Thunderbird\\ThunderbirdPortable.exe" -osint -compose "%1""

FYI; I have been referring to contact links in web sites via a email program (client), not using their 'message' provision within their site.

Older thread, current problem.
I just setup Thunderbird v102.23 (not the last one available that will run with Win 7 Pro x64, but close enough (less unnecessary visual changes), the that "MailTo' entry I originally isn't there and I don't believe that was a solution anyway.

I believe the program will work anyway since you are fighting Idiot Exploiter this time (even thou there is a small program that will assign FireFox as the default Browser with no issue).
I thought there was something that can be changed when one clicks on a link on a web page to contact the company that worked somehow, but I didn't take note of it. :(
