Today I cleaned my user profile. Deleted old visitor messages (120+), leaving only those from today, deleted subscribed threads with no new posts in the past four weeks (450+), and removed banned or expelled members from my friends list (7).

Those banned friends made me think if it's my habit to socialize with "bad boys", as a teacher of mine told me already almost 40 years ago...

I had several of those to delete from friends list as well.

Today we've had family visit, my mother-in-law to be exact, she's 83 and lives several hundred miles away my husbands brother brought her down.

They came last October for a few days stay hoping to see her latest great grandchild born but typically they went back on the Friday and my daughter had the baby in the early hours of the Saturday

The only trouble is they've brought the bad weather with them, they left in thunderstorms and torrential rain, we've been having good weather down here with sunshine and no rain, they arrived Sunday and it's rained now all day

I just finished replacing the front brake pads on my Taxi I get so tired of doing that.

Sounds like you have "disk" front brakes and "drum" rear brakes. Because when you stop the vehicle weight shifts forward, the front brakes take most of the wear. But, if you do not also service the rear brakes, the pad material becomes glazed over, and the drum gets polished so you end up with almost no stopping power at the rear wheels and move all the wear to the front. I would suggest you look at servicing the rear brakes as well, even if they look good, if you want to avoid all break wear at the front wheels.

Also for a taxi, I would look at high performance break disk rotors and pads, and if the rear brakes are "drum" type, converting them to "disk rotors and pads" to get a balanced braking force front to rear. It is possible the high performance setup will last longer, perform better, and cost less in the long run?

Thanks, I've considered this before and decided to do just as I am doing; the rear is pretty new though my driveng style does put ALL the wear on the front and I have no intention to start driving like granma so I'm stuck with how it is. :roflmao:

My experience of servicing tractor-trailers for a few years suggested to me it is not all a "driving style" that affects brake wear. I observed new trucks with factory fresh brakes go 500K miles before needing brake work. With each brake "pad" replacement, the miles the brakes lasted were cut in half. Long before reaching a million miles, these trucks were shutting down for brake work every 3 months. Not very profitable. But I was just the mechanic, not the decision maker.

How often are you replacing your front disk brake pads? Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually?

2 to 3 times a year, not really that bad for all the driving I do.

TBH, if I didn't buy the cheapest pads I can get I could get away with doing it about every 9 months.
