Just watched news today, China and Japan had been struck by an earthquake.

Japan (north) - with a 8.9 magnitude earthquake followed by a tsunami.
China - with a 5.8 magnitude earthquake? Not sure the magnitude was...

Not a good start to 2011 - with 3 earthquakes (NZ, China & Japan) and Libyan civil war.


UPDATE: There is a tsunami spreading to... New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Hawaii (major), China, Russia, Mexico, A bit of in California, South Americas and many more..

We had the Emergency Broadcast break in about 20 mins ago to tell of the Tsunami warning for the coast here. Should be about 6 1/2 hours from now if it occurs. 8.9 is a MAMMOTH quake. Really a 6 can be quite destructive, a 7 is ten times stronger, and I've felt that. An 8 would be ten times stonger still, and an 8.9 almost ten times stronger than that. So, unless my math fails me, an 8.9 is almost 1000 times stronger than a 6. Hard to fathom. A Guy

Looks like no other surrounding countries have gotten any significant tsunami, Taiwan, Philippines, Hawaii, Alaska, initial reports are all indicating minor wave height and damage.

Compared to Japans massive damage, surrounding Pacific areas were lucky with only mild tsunami reported.

Japan is wayyyyy advanced and they'll recover in no time. In fact, earthquakes are no surprise for them. My prayers are with those who lost their homes and lives.

Hawaii can out fine.. just a few higher than normal waves.. Thank goodness..
Calif. looks like a few as well.. we are so blessed this isn't any worse for us here in the USA..

hm, apparently Japan just got hit by another Earth quake (East coast), 7.5 rating. Well so says Twitter. Two earth quakes in such a short time. Sad. Oh and apparently Indonesia has just had a volcanic eruption. (I follow Twitter news.)
