I prefer opera these days. Great popup blocker, no plugins to download to customize it, and works with most sites. Also speed dial is really hand. On the other hand, I absolutely despise the tab stacking that was added and the fact they will not give an option to turn it off. A lot like windows 8 metro tablet interface that way.

Been an Opera user for years now and its still my primary browser. Recently I've tried Maxthon3 and must say I'm impressed. Still have - shudder - IE9 enabled but only because my Veterans Administration Healthcare will only work with that or F.F./Chrome, both of which I will not use. I must say that the number of IE8 (and 6!!!!) users surprised me.

I've been using Google Chrome for the past few years, it's caused no problems for me, and I like the nice clean feel and look of the UI. I don't use any extensions so my browsing experience isn't hindered =D

Most people on here seem to using Opera as their web browser, what is it like? How does it compare to Google Chrome?

I have all the main ones installed. Each one has it's strong points and, if someone could take all the good bits from each, combine them into one mega browser, then we would all be happy

I made the switch to Opera during ver. 9 and have not looked back. After installing the tracking blocker add-on, "Ghostery" and seeing all the tracking/data mining Chrome/other browsers were doing, it made me realize that Opera is the only browser that doesn't put money before privacy/security.
The speed dial is great; conversely, I dislike Opera's excessive use of my window for added features. Opera even works on NetFlix though Netflix claims it is not supported.

It's as fast as Chrome but safer imho. Secure and fast .... what more can you ask for? Have used Opera almost exclusively for the last ....4? 5? years now with very few if any complaints. I've used about all the browsers at one time or the other Chrome,F.F.,Iron,Pale Moon, Maxthon. The only way you can see for yourself is to... well, see for yourself. Download it..... try it for a couple of weeks and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. As with anything else that you're not used to, it may seem different at first but its well worth the time it takes to "get it". (the learning curve is very small btw)

I've been using Opera since version 3 on Win95, it was really fast these days. Now it's quite stable, highly customizable UI, relatively fast, compatible with most sites, and don't requires tons of add-ins to be useful (built in popup blocker, mail client, torrent client, download manager, multiple customizable tabs, option to make fully portable, native 64 bits version). I don't need anything else really. Just use IE to download it at every reformat, and as a fallback in those few sites where Opera fails to work properly.
I guess if it were more known, its share would be probably much higher. Reality is that marketing rules

I have Chrome, and haven't used any of the extensions once, I just prefer to have fast browser which supports all the webpages I want to visit and has a nice UI

Another Opera user here, it's not given me any reason to go to another browser, I've tried most of them, Opera is the best for me.

FF + NoScript

People just seem to love heaping addons on FF and Chrome. They like those browsers because of all the great addons. Don't know how many they actually need, but they sure like them. A Guy

For me, NoScript and my modified version of Personal Menu are non-negotiable.

Tab Mix Plus is another add-on I love in FF.

I have Opera now too, but how do change the UI in the webpages, as for SevenForums the boxes in Chrome and Opera look completely different

Chrome on the left and Opera on the right; I know there is only a very slight difference, but just wondering why? Is it how the two browsers handle HTML?

The reply box in Chrome sticks out of the screen less then the reply box in Opera; I know it's me being really picky

There is a line outline on one and not the other Different browsers use different engines, and certainly render at least slightly different. A Guy

I've switched Opera as my default browser, I like the much lower memory usage in comparison to Chrome, and with TurboBoost enabled, my browser speed is about the same as Chrome too!
