Torrenting fast, direct downloading, not so.

Alright, when I use Bittorent to download a file I get around 2.5mb/sec.

When I download a file from Internet from my browser I get like 300kb/sec max.
Sometimes it even stays at like 5kb/sec and won't go up.

I tried all the browser and all download managers, I think it might be a problem in my network configuration.

I have a Linksys WRT54G Router, and I have access to the settings page.

Running 2 firewalls? (you would be surprised some people do this).
Did you update your browser?
Try resetting the router.

Turned off all Firewalls.
Updated drivers/browsers.
I have reset the router.

Nothing seems to help.

Download from Games.Yahoo.Com or Microsoft.Com and use Internet Download Manager and post your download speed

Direct Links are more faster than Torrents and allow you to download with full speed if you used a good download accelerator

It starts at 900kb/sec and then slowly moves to 3kb/sec .

I'm not going to get involved over WHAT you are downloading --that's purely between "You and Your Maker" - but the reason for seriously slow torrents is that a lot of ISP's are now capping P2P type of Networks.

You probably need to use what's known as an "Anonymous Tracker" or better use one of the various "Proxy Servers" out there -- for a small fee you choose one of several servers so your ISP thinks you are logged on to the server and not to the torrent.

These are good also for accessing such things as for example BBC R5 LIVE Football Premier League commentaries when you are outside the UK -- you'd normally get "Due to rights restrictions we can't broadcast ....." but when you log on to the UK server the broadcast IS available because the Broadcaster gets the IP address of your PROXY and not your real IP address.

For more help on this you'll have to google since this whole topic is sailing seriously close to the wind.

I've described WHY you are getting slow speeds and what you can do about it --but PLEASE NO PM's etc on this matter.

Thanks for the post, but I'm getting slow downloads when I'm downloading direct files.

When I torrent It goes around 2mb/sec. which is pretty fast for me.
