Hi im new here and my laptop froze then i had to turn my laptop off using the power button. Then when i turned it back on it said reboot and select proper device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. What do i do? Im 15 and had a bad experience with laptops. I rage at them.

Hello computerrager15. Welcome to the forum.

I suggest not raging at a laptop. They break easily and hold a grudge forever.

Unfortunately it sounds like you have lost your hard disk drive. It has either become disconnected, gone offline, or has failed in some way.

If you are mechanically inclined, you could open up the hard drive bay and remove and reinstall the drive. That will eliminate a disconnection problem.

If that does not change anything then I suggest removing the hard drive and connecting it to a spare data and power connectors on a desktop PC. If you can access the drive there - see files and folders etc - then that will eliminate a failed drive.

If you are nervous about working inside the laptop (or might throw parts around the room in a fit of frustration) then you could bring it to a computer shop. They could test the drive in a short time for minimal cost.
