Toshiba Satellite L445D Win7-32bit

My wife recently acquired a Toshiba laptop from a friend. It has 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate loaded on it. When I looked up the processor on it, I found it had a AMD Sempron SI-42. The Sempron was a 64 bit processor, but just single core. Does this mean that I could load the 64 bit version of Windows 7 on it and be good?? Or do I need to stick with the 32 bit Win7??

Thanks for the information. I had an inkling that is what I should do. I use her laptop every now and then to do 3D (Maya 2011) development. I am probably going to max out her memory on the machine to keep my 3D development from slowing down to a crawl (only due to large numbers of polygons in my meshes).
