Troubling Issue..

I currently have the Windows 7 Home Premium laptop. It's like Acer or something. And Ive had it for just about a year and 2 months. This problem i'm having with the sound just started like two days ago.

Okay so lately my computer has been really slow and it's been tormenting me about updates. So of course I get tired of it and I update my computer like two days ago. I haven't been on it since before the update, until today. My brother gets on it and says the sound won't work and I'm assuming it's just his cheap headphones so I don't worry too much about it.(My brother was on when it updated, not me) I was not on it yesterday and I get on to to see that the sound looks mute (has a small white x in a red circle on it) but when I move the mouse over the icon on the toolbar at the bottom it says "The Audio Service is not running." So then I decide to click it and it says:

And error has occurred while Troubleshooting:

An unexpected error has occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue.

My computer has just updated two days ago and I don't know what the issue is.

Also, Ive tried adjusting the volume, it won't work...

Can someone please help me?

You'll need to search for an update too, or possibly just reinstall, the audio drivers.
Acer 'something' doesn't give me enough information to point you directly to the drivers though.

My manufacturer is Acer. But My model is Aspire 5517. I'm not sure if that helps or not. I'm not into this technology stuff so I am very confused.

just go there choose your model information and download the audio driver.
It will install the same way anything else does.

So i did find the right model and its currently downloading the audio driver.. Hopefully this works.

And I have downloaded it and I still don't know what to do... Dx (I feel helpless)

Since the problem started two days ago, another possible solution is to use System Restore and return your computer to a date/time prior to when the audio issues began.

If you're able to go back in time and the problem is fixed (no guarantees when it comes to all things computer related ) you'll most likely have to update your antivirus and perhaps those other updates you mentioned. If it turns out you do need to reinstall Windows Updates, may I suggest you only do a few at a time. Use your computer for a while to make sure there are no issues. Then install the next few updates. That way you'll narrow down which of the updates is causing problems (if the audio problem was update related in the first place.)

I would also respectfully suggest you might want to run a full anti-malware scan with Malwarebytes free. You can download it from CNET using the big gray button on the left that says Download Now (9MB). Update the database. A full scan could take over an hour depending on the size of your hard drive.

Alright I'll try that. I remember once before my laptop messed up, I cannot remember why, and I did a system restoree and it worked wonderfully. So I will try that and hopefully that will fix the problem.

And I do believe the issue was update related since it was working fine before the update.
