Solved turn my old internal HDD to storage disk ?

Hi All

I want to turn my old internal HDD to storage disk ?

but don't know how to do it , "I have acronis disk director home"

Any idea ?

If there is nothing on this drive you need to keep, then you can do this in Windows Disk Management. Just connect it to the PC, Open Disk Management, delete all existing partitions until you are left with all Unallocated Space, then create a new partition, format it NTFS, and give it a drive letter. Data Disk ready.

But I'm guessing there is more to the story here....

Yep, just format it, if it once had an operating system on it and it`s marked active, you will have to mark it inactive or windows won`t let you format it. But you can also use Partition Wizard to format it.

Yep or you could just wipe it with clean all Partition Wizard or CCleaner then format but I think the others have the easier options.

Here is the diskmgmt.msc screen shot : I like to compile all in 1 disk for storage .

OK. Pretty simple really.

First I must stress: all of the data on Disk 1 will be deleted. Be sure you have backed up any data you need.

The procedure is the same in Partition Wizard or Disk Management. Only the mouse clicks are different.
In Disk Management:

Start with Storage (G). Right click on it and then choose "Delete Volume".
Then do the same with New Volume (F)
Then the 19.12GB partition
Then the 260MB partitition

When you are done there will be a black bar all the way across the top and it will say "unallocated" for the entire drive.

Then right click on the unallocated box and choose: "Create New Volume"

Follow the prompts to format it NTFS and give it a drive letter and you should be good to go!

Note: any ACTIVE flag for a partition will be deleted along with the partition.

Ok , It won't let me to delete the volume the last 2 ...? how do I turn it to Inactive ?

Ah. Those OEM partitions are such a pain.

Here is a step by step for deleting the partitions using the DISKPART utility that is in Windows.
How to delete OEM Partition | Jared Heinrichs

Care must be taken when using Diskpart to be sure the disk you are deleting parttitions on is the correct disk. Do not rely on it being Disk 1 in Diskpart!
Since both drives are the same size you will want to be sure that when you "List Partition" that the partition sizes are the same as you know they are on the disk labeled Disk 1 in Disk Management.

Once you are sure you are in the correct disk, then delete those pesky OEM partitions!

Update :

I got to Black all cross , but when I right click it show " New simple volume and Properties"

I do not have the option to create new volume ..?

How do I merge them to 1 volume ?
