This drives me NUTS! Just loaded a 2nd install of 7 pro 64 bit on a new SSD, after the 1st install failed. Drive is still accessible, but OS won't boot (both on same PC). I am administrator on the new OS, and logged on as such. Just tried to xfer the setup folder for SABNZBD from the previous OS, keep getting that GDMFING "You don't have permission" S**T!!!! Tried the "Take ownership" right click. I have UAC set to NEVER. I want to turn this infuriating junk off COMPLETELY. HOW do I DO THAT?

Sorry for my tone. This absolutely makes me want to SMASH this f'ing thing!!!:mad::mad::mad:

What is SABNZBD? A Google search says it's a binary news reader. Is that what it is?

You do have the right click Take Ownership option installed in your registry?

The reason why this is happening is because the folder is carrying with it user permissions from the last computer.

Try this

Yeah, Windows' idea on security with file permissions is a masterful cluster f%^. I don't even mess with it. Never mind its fallacy in that you STILL can get malware that will not only jack your crap, but own and tea bag you. You want real permissions, use Linux. And even that can get hacked. LOL

If that program doesn't work, and someone doesn't tell you the correct step by step method with messing with permissions, I have a way for you to run explorer as a God and that should get crap going. Though, after you do what you have to do, the permissions will remain. So not sure if this would work though.

You may be an admin on the working 7 but you will have no rights on the old one even if you use the same name as the sid will be different

Thanks for the replies. Yes, Sabnzbd is a binary newsgroup client. I've used a few, that one's terrific. I would have assumed, since the SSD I'm trying to copy FROM is just a drive full of files (the OS on it is not running) and that any "policies" on the OS there would be moot, since that OS isn't operating. I'll try the suggestions above & get back with the results. I have thought about Linux MANY times, since I basically have hated windows much past win2k. I also have a drive with 10, which I'm also not crazy about (never used 8, prefer 7 to 10). My hesitance for Linux is I'm not sure if I could get all the programs I need (like Sabnzbd, which I use constantly, may have a Linux version, I'd have to check) or drivers for all my rather dated hardware. If anyone has any thoughts on that, please pass them on.

I've always said windoze security is basically like Ford promising their cars are invincible to theft, because they've WELDED ALL THE DOORS SHUT. Sure, the OWNER can no longer DRIVE IT, but no risk of theft!
