It is agreed, by most at this Forum, that Home Premium is sufficient for most users, unless you have special needs, for example bit locker.

It can stay English, don't worry, you can also change typing options no matter what version (I'm not sure actually, I've only got Ultimate).

You use the Language Bar to switch between keyboard layouts.

It will all look the same, only in Professional there is 'Windows Anytime upgrade' program.
And you won't be able to encrypt drives, and you can't boot from a Virtual Hard Drive (VHD).

If you have to ask, then save your money.

I see no reason to go higher than Home Premium for most users, in fact the bulk of users would do just fine with Starter, especially if they weren't aware that there are other options. The additional features are things that incredibly few people need, even some that spend the money.

Unless there is a specific feature you need, you are very unlikely to notice the unused programs available by upgrading, other than once in a while wondering what they do. If you are into labels and need the highest level of everything then run, don't walk, to your closest Windows retailer and buy the most expensive version you can find. ;)

7 Pro version still have the option: Encrypting File System (EFS) & Encrypting Offline Files... but some softwares will easily encrypt drives
