Unable to access internet in Normal Boot mode

Here's another thing I've noticed acting differently since this problem started.

I run a program called Xactware on my computer. It requires its user data be stored on a mapped network drive. I often have to check that I have a connection to the drive before using the program. I do this by opening Windows Explorer and making sure there's a green connection icon on the mapped drive, instead of a red X. If I try opening the program without checking this first, I usually get an error saying, "Unable to connect to database. Reason 'Could not connect to Server 'DARCY-PC\xactware'.'"
Now since I've been having this Internet problem, this error message is slightly different. Instead of having the name of my computer, DARCY-PC, it shows an IP address instead. I assume this is related to my original problem, but I don't know for sure.

The point is the tracert proved he has internet so network card etc is all working so problem must be firewall or browser is the network set to home not public

I think we can be quite sure that it's not the firewall or antivirus causing the problem. I've disabled both, as well as the Startup item 'Microsoft Security Client', followed by a reboot, and the problem persists.

Can you get help from your I.T. Department at work? They probably have their settings and really don't want anybody changing them.

Actually, we're a small company with a total of two people in the office. I look after any necessary IT work myself.

Just back from holidays, so I'm working again at resolving this issue. I ran sfc /scannow through an elevated command prompt and the response says, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log" Would posting that log file provide valuable information to troubleshoot this issue?

Yes their are members that can read your logs. I'm not one of them.

Did you complete the sfc /scannow according to the tutorial?

Yes, I did. The log I attached was from immediately after the first sfc /scannow I ran. I then ran the scan again, and this time it said it fixed all issues.

If I run the Windows Internet Connections troubleshooter, it says "Problems found: You might need to sign up with this network's Internet service provide to get access to the Internet."
But there are two other computers using the same Internet connection with no issues.

Well, I finally got this issue resolved, but only after reinstalling Windows. Using the original Windows install disk, I did an in-place upgrade install that left all the programs & data intact. I had to reinstall all the Windows updates again, though, which totaled close to 200.
Someone may wonder about the in-place upgrade and think that I upgraded to a higher level of Windows while I was at it. In fact, I did not upgrade. I just used that method to reinstall my current version of Windows without doing a Clean Install.

When you do a Repair Install as you did their is no Upgrade to another system.
Why the word 'Upgrade' is used is be on me. What the Repair Install does is repair the existing installed system.
You had Home Premium when you started the Repair Install. You ended up with a repaired Home Premium.
