Unable to boot from cd

I have windows 7 ultimate edition on my PC. I want to downgrade to windows xp service pack 3 but when i go to boot menu and try to boot from CD , the blank screen appears and it forward to windows start up(actually pc start). I am unable to install xp.:cry: please help.:D

Are you sure that your windows xp cdrom is a bootable cdrom?

Also, did you press the space bar when trying to boot from the cdrom?
you need to perform an action before the cdrom will boot your xp disk.
