So these past couple of days I've been facing a really problematic issue with my hard drives.
So I used to have a Windows distribution (10) and two Linux distributions installed Ubuntu and Kali just for messing around and checking stuff. It all started when I formated the Windows partition in order to reinstall Windows. When I did that, GRUB (the bootloader) got messed up as well and I could not do anything. When trying to install the Windows I would receive 0x80070057 .
Upon researching the issue I found out that all you had to do was to delete the partition, create it again and format it. Tried that. I kept getting Windows could not format a partition on disk 0 and the same error code.
Next up I tried GParted. I deleted the MBR and GPT records and deleted all the partitions. I eventually managed to format the partitions to NTFS by formatting them to fat32 first and then to NTFS in GParted.
Everything looked good and well, untill I clicked install on the Windows Setup. I eventually received error 0x8007045D . I thought maybe the USB was corrupt, reinstalled the windows kit there, still the same thing.
My HDD is quite new and passed the health check in GParted, this is very unlikely to be harddrive failure.
Next up I tried formatting it in diskpart. If I'd try to format to NTFS, it would just get stuck at 0 percent, even left it overnight to make sure.
I looked up the attributes of the disk / volume in G Part and read only isn't activated anywhere.
I'm basically desperate and out of ideas at this point, I would really appreciate some help.
