Unable to install new motherboard drivers

I got a new motherboard and processor today and whenever I boot up the pc I have to go into safe mode because if I boot as normal it will stay on the windows welcome screen with the rotating loading circle and will stay there. But when I boot in safe mode I cannot access my driver cd, it tells me to reinstall the program or something. So basically i'm stuck in a loop.

Now, this may be a dumb question, but did you format and start a clean install?

- if not, insert your windows 7 cd in the dvd rom, restart pc and go into your bios (usually pressing "delete" at startup gets you in the bios) go to boot options and select your dvd/cd rom as primary boot device. press f10 to save and exit. When asked to press any key to boot from cd do it, and follow instructions, make sure to do a clean format on your selected hdd and reinstall windows. After this and windows booted up,you can install you new motherboard drivers along with any other drivers you need.

When done with all the drivers restart and go into bios again and select the hdd as the primary boot device.


If you have done a clean format in the very beginning after you installed the new mb and cpu, check that your hdd settings in bios is IDE.

Changing hardware can often lead to problems with a previous Windows installation, sometimes it works but asks you to re-register; others it simply doesn't load Windows at all after the upgrade. How long have you left it on the loading screen before rebooting?

Another option if you have the old parts is to reinstall them and see if it loads (chances are it will; Windows is trying to find these components when it loads, and is of course unable to locate them). You will have to manually uninstall your old board drivers and, in Hardware Manager, change to generic Windows processor drivers (ask for further details if needed). After this, a reboot will be required and of course tell Windows not to update when it next loads. Shut down again, install the new parts, and with any luck (it's not exactly a cast-iron guarantee) you should have a working system! Update the drivers as necessary and you're away!

The only alternative is to completely reinstall Windows so that it addresses the new components during setup.

Please roll back the driver (use control panel, device manager, right click the driver, click property,then choose driver tab). Reinstall it. Visit also manufacturer's web site to see if there is any update for this driver.
