Guys last night I followed this tutorial on how to have the Recycle Bin show up on the taskbar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/6687-recycle-bin-pin-taskbar.html and it worked great. But then like a complete idiot I deleted the Trash folder I had saved in directory I used to save it in. This of course ruined the whole procedure (hindsight is a great thing) and the "undo delete" function didn't restore any the functionality wither. So I decided to start from scratch. However, when I got to the part about right clicking the task bar and going to Toolbars-New Toolbar there was a menu entry for the Trash folder I had created earlier which was ticked. I unticked it and ever since then I can't lock or unlock the taskbar. I can tick and untick but it doesn't do anything. System Restore didn't fix it so I'm at a loss. I created a new user account to see if it worked from there and it does. So I thought maybe my user profile had become corrupt during the processes I outlined above and decided to follow the tutorial on how to fix an corrupt user profile here: Fix a corrupted user profile
But I can't copy the user files over as I keep getting an access denied/require permission message when trying to do so. Any advice lads? I should left well enough alone :(

I already did a system restore which didn't make any difference. It's not so much that I want the recycle bin on the taskbar anymore; it's more that I want to be able to unlock/lock the task bar.

Hello Oprez,

That is strange.

As a test, open the Recycle Bin using the Desktop Icon option, and see if you may be able to restore the Trash folder that you deleted by mistake to see if the taskbar will work properly afterwards.

If the Recycle Bin is empty, then go ahead and recreate the Trash folder in the same directory with the same name that you had it in before you deleted it by mistake.

Hmm, ok. As a test, create a new administrator account to see how it works while logged in it. If it works properly, then you could just copy over what you like (ex: shortcuts and files in user folders) from the old account to the new one.

Brink it works fine with a new admin account. Can you give me a tutorial on how I can copy the stuff over so that both accounts are exactly the same? (I tried earlier using the tutorial on the Microsoft website but ran into a load of access denied errors). And also, could I go ahead and delete the old account afterwards?

When you open your old user profile folder from your new user account, you will have to click on "Allow" when prompted first before you will be able to open it.

Afterwards, you should be able to Copy and Paste from the use folders like you would any other file from folder to folder.

Brink, thanks. Right clicking on the task bar, selecting properties and choosing auto hide let me unlock the task bar when un-checking the 'lock task bar' option didn't work.
