Unable to remove old wireless network

Hi
I've just changed providers and now have a new router. It's still appearing in "manage wireless networks". I've removed this network so that there is only one listed however when I log off & back on again, it re-appears. My account is an administrator account so I should be able to do this. Plus, the new router is set to manually connect. I change this to connect automatically but again when I log off & on again it's back to manual.

I'm fairly new to Windows 7 (home edition) so any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi and welcome to SevenForums!

You should be able to save your settings. When you set it to auto connect, search for some kind of save button :)

There is no save button. In "manage wireless networks" the 2 networks are listed - the old one at the top and the newer one underneath it. I select the old one, right click and there is an option to remove - I click this and it disappears. However as soon as you log back in again it's back.

Similar for setting the new one to auto connect. Right click/properties and check the box "connect automatically when this network is in range" then click OK. It auto connects. But as soon as you log off & on again it's reset back to manual.

It just keeps defaulting back to the old settings & I can't figure out how to change this...

When you right-click the icon for the network you no longer use, does it give you an option to disable it?

A screenshot of your Network & Sharing Center layout showing your networks would be helpful.

Aha.

So you are trying to set this in windows... If you have a router and you configure it like it has to be to work, then you don't need to connect to the network from your pc, just open up the browser and it should work.

When I right click on the network I want to remove there are 4 options - properties, remove network, rename & move down. I've tried remove but whilst it keeps coming back the next time you log in. I've tried moving down the list so the new one is at the top and then remove it but again it keeps coming back. Here is a screenshot attached. The old one is the belkin and the new one is sky. thanks

I've finally figured it out..... The old network driver was still installed. I uninstalled this then removed it from the network and it has not reappeared next time I logged in.
