I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and after my first update I found that it could not update this KB.

I've tried following the help links. I downloaded the Readiness tool, no luck there...

Its a clean install of windows so I dont have anything on the machine...

Vista, my response to that error code (800b0100) would be to temp disable your firewall. Don't know if it's the same with 7...

This error relate to corruption in C:\Windows\Servicing\packages and in C:\Windows\WinSxS

1.Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on cmd.exe as admin) and type:

sfc /scannow

when it finish type following command

Neverless mostly reasons of error 800B0100 are caused corrupted components as I said before and easy methods will never work examples similar to you:

Vista SP2 fails to install, error trust_e_nosignature (0x800b0100)

Impossible to install new Windows security Updates (error 800B0100 and 80246007) - Vista Forums

how to fix:

1.Empty folder C:\Windows\Logs\CBS
next download files attached to post and unpack them anywhere
2.Navigate to C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages,takeownership of this folder and add your account to have full control
3.Copy my files to this folder -if you have already any file then replace it.
4.Remove your account from permissions to Packages folder
5.Restore ownership of Packages folder back to "NT Service\TrustedInstaller"
6.Again try install hotfixes

helpful links (please read them)

Take Ownership of file - Vista Forums
TrustedInstaller - Restore as Owner - Vista Forums
Folder Permissions - Vista Forums

If it still don't help again run Readiness Tool and attache to post new CheckSur.log file

Were it not repaired he'd have trouble with other updates as well.It was problem with corrupted components in Packages folder (see previous post),IE have nothing to that.Nobody know what cause damaging components in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages and in C:\Windows\WinSxS.Error 800b0100 occurs when installing many various hotfxes. This error is found for several years.Fortunately Threat Starter has solved his problem.

Where are the files attached to Flavius' post?
Moderators should close this thread :sa:.Even if you have the same error and also have damages in Packages or in WinSxS folder you cannot apply solution for other person.Almost never exist two systems with the same damages, thus I removed these files because it are not lognger needed.

First try disable firewall and any download accelerator and try update again, not always this error relate to damages files. If it doesn't work too,the same procedure as was in post 2 -I need sfcdetails.txt and CheckSur.log from your system
