Not agod idea to work when you are tired! Working with my HD´s I accidentally both deleted my win 7 OS and unfortunately also formatted (NTFS) a 140Gb external HD with a current image of WIN 7 (64). I had realized the terrible error immediately, so I did not use the HD after the mishap.
Is there any way I can undo the format? I know that the free recovery software tools are useless, so I`m ready to even pay for a working recovery tool (within reasonable limits, preferably not exceeding $80). The problem is that an acquintance of mine who has some more computer literacy than myself, claims that IMAGE files from erroneously formatted HD cannot be recoverd no matter how good the recovery software is. Is that true? Any suggestions in case a recovery of image files on a formatted HD is posible at all?
