Unidentified Network with No Access

I just got this new to me Acer Aspire 5250-BZ873 with Windows Seven Home Premium on it.
I've been trying to connect to the WIFI at my house and my attempts haven't been successful.
I've looked in many other places and haven't been able to fix my problem this far.
I haven't been able to download anythig due to the lack of internet so I don't believe that could be a problem.
Also, the woman said the internet was working just fine for her before she gave it to me.
Please help!

first of all what router are you using ??

What is the signal strength ??

some screenshot would be nice to analyse

First make sure the WiFi radio in the laptop is turned on, the previous owner may have had a wired connection. You can try that to get it set up.

Not sure on the lights, bbut there should be an indicator somewhere that WiFi is on.

The wifi thing is on and I'm not sure about the router?
It will usually show half the bars or more on the bottom corner icon.
The troubleshoot helper will only go for a few seconds then says there is an error. I forgot to include that in the initial thing.
