Solved Uninstalled synaptics touchpad/Locked out of pc !

OK try the on screen keyboard. to get logged in. does the keyboard work to get to bios or the safe mode options. if so try starting laptop and keep pressing F8 to get to safe mode options in the list their should be a last know configuration try that.

Okay...tried that.it won't let me use the keyboard once I get to the log in screen

Again,thanks VERY much for all your help.I'm done screwin' around with this for now though.Off to bed.Goodnioght my friend ! And,if anybody has any other solutions/answers as to why the program won't stay loaded after a restart so that the software still works,I'll be checking back on this post for awhile.

For those of you who are having this problem.I have solved the issue.The solution is to simply download the driver from Synaptics website,unzip it and install it directly over the other driver.There is NO NEED to uninstall the other driver first.And,I'd also like to tell you that after installing this driver (Ver 17) my scrolling is MUCH smoother now ! WHY HP hasn't updated this driver since version 15 is completely beyond me.AND.....it's also enhanced for 64 bit systems !

HP is notorious for not updating drivers. It's one of the reasons I will not buy anything from HP anymore.

Example: There was a critical BIOS update a few months ago. These can be difficult to apply for the average user, but in this case it comes with a Windows utility that you just follow the directions on the screen. When it's finished you reboot and after reboot you have the new BIOS.

Critical updates are shown in red so they're easy to distinguish from regular ones. It is easy, trust me

Those gesture features are highly configurable in most of the latest touchpad software. Browse through the control panels to see.

There's no reason to panic when something like that happens. Never once have I seen anyone not be able to fix such a thing. At most its a temporary interruption while we (or Google) help you sort it. Then you've learned something and built your confidence.

I'm always amazed at how upset people get about "ruining" their computer. Never once, Not a single time have I seen such a thing. We haven't even had anyone fry their mobo from static electricity or brick the BIOS with a failed update, and those are the most risky things we deal with here.
