Solved Uninstalling Windows 7 SP1

Hi everyone,
For different reasons, I have to uninstall this SP.
However, this appears to be impossible, even in safe mode.
The message produced is ''Service pack cannot be uninstalled''.
I'm looking for a workaround solution.

Hello Baback, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you used the SP1 (Service Pack 1) Disk Cleanup Tool, if SP1 came preinstalled on your computer, or you installed Windows 7 with a Windows 7 w/SP1 installation disc, then you will not be able to uninstall the SP1.

Thanks for your answer.SP1 was installed through Windows updates.
My question is if these tools succeed will I be able to reinstall SP1 afterwards.I need to delete it just for performing a Windows upgrade in order to repair Windows system files.

Do not use the tools. They will prevent you from being able to uninstall SP1.

If you are able to uninstall SP1 using an option in the tutorial below, then you will be able to reinstall it again afterwards.

I had already tried the options of this tutorial before posting here.

That only removes the backups created when you installed SP1, and prevents SP1 from being uninstalled.

Since you did that without reading the warning first, you're only option would be a clean install of Windows 7 to remove SP1 now.

I think there is confusion on what I did:
Here's what I tried and did not work:

1) Deleting SP1 from the Control Panel
2) Deleting SP1 from a command prompt: Wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932
3) My System Restore does not work.
To keep it simple, nothing to remove it has worked so far.

May I try the options I mentionned in this previous post?

No. That does not uninstall SP1. Instead, it prevents SP1 from being uninstalled. This was why I asked if you had used it before.

It appears that your only option is to do a clean or custom install of Windows 7.

I'm sorry too but I think I will be getting a DVD with Windows 7 integreting SP1 , allowing me to do an upgrade in order to repair my system files.
According to your experience, upgrading with the Windows DVD ,is it an efficient tool?

If it's a retail and not a slipstreamed Windows 7 w/SP1 integrated DVD, then it may work.

Using a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive would be a bit faster, but a DVD works fine though.

No, it won't be a reinstall.I finally found a DVD containing Windows 7 Pro with SP1 integrated.
