Update Error Code 80073712

I've uploaded a file - dtyad.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\dtyad
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\dtyad
or
DIR E:\dtyad

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\dtyad <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

I understand it and I did the same thing, but how do you put in the following format? Do you just search for those occurrences and when you find a hit, you just copy/paste the line into a new file? Or you were automate that somehow?

Code:

There's an option to create a subwindow with the search results in - use the Find All in this document option.

So, are you finding missing or corrupted files based on my log and then supplying them to me in needed folders and you get them from your computer where you're assuming they are not corrupted? Is that the case?

Yup, pretty much - although most of the files I get direct from the extracted updates.

Here's the latest listing...

There's just the one Windows file left now - which for some reason I missed last time :(

Usual Procedure - filename dtyaf.zip

Once you've done that go to the Programs & files listing and Uninstall Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 - then download them from here...
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center

...and install both

Then run SFC /SCANNOW again and post the new log.

another 16 errors crept in as you did the updates, and the two VC++ errors weren't removed by the uninstall.
At least we got that last WIndows file corrected, and your Updates worked - are there any more to come?

I had a big problem uninstalling Visual C++ version files. I had like 9 of them and every one was asking for installer during uninstall process. I tried a lot of things to remove it and end up removing it with Revo Uninstaller. After that I had to reinstall .NET, but not sure why they are shown as corrupt

- only that the VC++ files are still being complained about :(
Finding the proper versions of VC++ updates to replace them with is a nightmare - I'm asking around to see if anyone has them.

That doesn't tell us a lot! :( - simply that the file doesn't exist. I'll have to do some more research and see if I can find the related registry entries.
