I want to manually update Win7 -- automatic updates are disabled
- I got caught twice last year with bad updates
- I am not having any problems with Windows
- trial (3rd day) of Kaspersky Internet Security, "Safe Money" (banking feature) is nagging me to update Windows

In "Windows Updates" window I have already clicked "Check for Updates"

If I click "Install Now" will it also automatically update Windows ... as well as updating the updater
- never have I seen "update the updater"

I do not want a total auto-update of Windows

Once the updater is updated, how would I do a selective manual update of Windows by each KB in turn ?
MS tute Install Windows updates in Windows 7 is not clear enough for me
- I vaguely remember a list of KBs that I could selectively install (or ignore) one at a time.
- the last manual Win7 update I did was in 2013

This is just an update to the updater. It will not change your manual settings to automatic. You can continue to apply manual updates once the updater is updated.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file
