I just did a clean Windows 7 install.

BTW there is an excellent guide here by gregrocker.

How do I upgrade the default IE8 to IE11? Should I uncheck IE 8 (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off) or just leave it checked and then install IE11?

Or do I install IE11 and it will uncheck IE8 by itself during the installation process?

I was browsing the net and found an interesting read basically saying not to uncheck it.

I noticed after installing W7 and then running Windows Update it installed some IE11 updates even while IE11 is not yet installed.

Hi,
It's best to uninstall the ie11 update if installed and hide it when it comes up,
Then recheck for updates and load them in the way they were first released 9-10-11
That way if you decide to roll back to a prior version 10 is already there ;)
Plus it just works better :)
Cheers.
For the record ie10 is the more stable version ;)

Also turning a windows feature off does nothing productive.

Hi ThrashZone,

Thanks for your reply. :D

It's best to uninstall the ie11 update

But how do I find the IE11 update(s)?

In Control Panel > Installed Updates, I only saw one (1) IE11 related "update" which was in fact IE11, no update but the application itself AFAICT.

Do I uninstall that or just leave things the way they are?

I've been using Chrome and everything works just fine...

Hi,
If you don't use ie11 why worry about it being there
I certainly wouldn't turn ie off as already stated = leave it alone one day you might find Chrome is acting up and or corrupted and you'll need to uninstall Chrome and then what :p
Cheers.

My system are done in this fashion.

Leave I.E. 11 on your system and keep it updated using Windows 7 Updates.
I keep I.E. 11 as default browser.
I use Firefox about 90% of the time.

I highly recommend keep 2 or more browsers on your system just in case something happens to one of them. You will still have access to the internet without a hassle.
