Upgrade to win 7 wont boot from CD

Ok, I tried as follows:

Esc: opens Windows Boot Manager
F12: Does nothing
F9: opens Windows Boot Manager

I have a startup screen that says ASUS and at the bottom of that there is two things it says: Let me look and I will post back.

Depends on the mainboard. I know the P4P800 is F8, the P4PE is
ESC.

Right put your dvd in

restart

before your pc begins to restart hit f8 constantly till you get boot menu back up

select 2nd option

then hit enter

it should say to boot from dvd hit any key = hit enter

but it might only show for a second or to so keep your eye on it and be quick :D

once in delete your drive partition with vista on it.

Looks like Microsoft is going out of its way to prevent you from bypassing "having another OS installed" when doing an upgrade install. Looks like the same deal as in the other thread I linked too. They want you to run the install from windows not directly from the DVD. It shouldn't be a problem, except for when going from 32 to 64 bit.

EDIT: On my ASUS motherboard the boot menu is F8. I either end up in the windows safe mode window when I want the boot menu, or the boot menu when I want safe mode. I never seem to get the timing right. :(

Ok everything worked except I am running it on a 32" widescreen and it only wants to go 1024 X 768 for the largest size so now I have black showing on the sides of my desktop. It worked on vista going the full 13?? X ??? "Cant remember size 13 something" I haven't put in my registration or product code yet either, Hope it takes it since I did the full install instead of the upgrade.
