Hello.
I have just bought 4 gig of ram to help speed up my computer but when I put it in, it says that only 2.93 gig usable.
Is there a way to use this other gig that i have.
Thanks a bunch

If you are using Windows 64-bit then you can use all the RAM you have in your system..

To utilize all four gbs of ram you need a 64 bit OS. Closes I think you can get is around 2.5 to 3.6GB will be available to your windows 7 32bit OS depending on what your system recognizes

Just out of curiosity type msconfig in the search panel on the start bar and press enter. Then go to the tab called boot then advanced options, you should see something called max memory tick that box with a check if it doesn't have it or untick it if you want to set it manually then next to the numbers you should see something like 3072mb, should be a little upper then that but i'm too lazy to do the math atm :P but when you see these little arrows click on the one pointing up^ until it stops and it should get to the max of what ever you have or 32bit supports. After you have done this then restart and check how much ram is being used. Should be around i believe 3gbs of ram.

The Maximum Memory box in msconfig, like the number of processors, is for troubleshooting only and should not be used in this case.

Type Resource Monitor in Start Search box, tick Memory tab, look at graph showing usage - especially how much RAM is apportioned to hardware.
