I have Windows 7 installed (32-bit) and want to upgrade to 64-bit. My PC is 64-bit ready. I have read that to do this I need to do a clean install however when I boot up from the disc drive it says press any key to boot from DVD and when I do it just loads windows normally, it won't load in to do a clean install. Can someone help please?

Did you make a change in BIOS settings to boot from DVD first?

Can you boot from the 32-bit disk as if you were going to do a clean install of 32-bit?

Can you boot from any other known bootable disk?

Is the disk a burned disk or a purchased disk or a borrowed disk or ???

I tried the 32-bit disk and it's doing exactly the same thing, it just won't start the clean install, keeps loading windows as normal. It's a bought original disk. I tried making a bootable usb and run it from there but that didn't work either. Any ideas?

Oh and I'm definately pressing the press any key bit in the time frame.

Cheers

Did you change your first boot device to DVD-Drive or USB?

Generally, if the DVD or USB does not work properly (e.g. is not bootable), it will just skip and go to the next bootable device, which in your case is your hard drive.
