Upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit

I am ciurrently running Vista 64 bit, I have had it for a long time now. I really would like to upgrade to windows 7 64 bit but I want to do a full format of my drive if I do.

I bought my whole PC in different parts from newegg.com about 5 years ago and to save my life I have no clue what each part is unless I just open my case find names serial numbers and just google search the drivers which I dont want to do.

Is there some way to pull up my system information to see all the parts I have and then download all the drivers I need for them on the net? or If there is an easy recomended way to download and install drivers? Because when I bought this PC I pieced it all together but I had to have someone set up my BIOS and they did the drivers aswell so I do not know the correct process.

You can download and run a program such as Speccy that will ID a lot of stuff.

One critical piece is the motherboard manufacturer and model. Once you know that, go to that company's website and download the drivers for your particular operating system and version.

When you install Windows, the first thing you should install is the chipset driver---followed by all the others.

There is another program System Information for Windows that will show all your pc's informations.

There are also some programs that detects the new versions of your drivers and install them on your pc, the one I use is Drivereasy.

Before you do anything I'd advise downloading and running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which will highlight whether or not your computer will run Windows 7.
