Urgent: Computer Won't Boot

I've tried most options and theres still no luck
When the computer boots, it simply can't get past the hp logo screen.
None of the F keys work so i can't access the BIOS information or boot from cd/usb option

As for gregrocker's first suggestion, I don't know which company made my HD so i don't know which program to downlaod from his site: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp. (it doesn't have any option for HP laptops)

My computer model is HP Pavilion dv5-1138ca

Try the Seagate one.

I tried the Seagate one. I burned it on a CD using PowerISO and it was bootable.
But when I insert the CD in my laptop, nothing happened (as usual)
The daignoistic did not start on it's own. It probably needs to boot from CD which i can't do since i can't access my boot order or bios.

I just tried that and it didn't work.
After about 10 button presses the laptop will make a loud beep for every key pressed.

What do you think the problem is? I think I might have to buy a new harddrive or maybe laptop.

On the post screen you should see a boot menu tap that F? key.

The Seagate diagnostics CD should autostart when you restart your computer, if it is burned correctly as an image file. I use ImgBurn at 4x speed which never fails.

All of the tools I suggested will autostart, since you are unable to get your BIOS to boot CD. Are you following these steps: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/ht/bootcddvd.htm

Okay thanks for the help on this topic... I had the same problem and solved it on my machine.
I removed the hard drive and hooked it up to a external usb adapter then mounted that to my winxp laptop.
Went to My computer... the USB drive .... properties.... tools ... error checking .... let it run fixing errors. When done put drive back into dv5-1138ca and BINGO it worked....
Everything back up and running.
Hope this helps I'm sure you can use other os for this and the external usb I got at tigerdirect for about 30$ make sure it supports sata.. I use it all the time to use old hard drives for file storage so worth the cash.
