usb ports not reading.

I am running win 7 x64 Home prem. When i go to device managers there are the yellow ! next to Standard enhanced pci to usb host cont 3b34 and 3b3c are hardware id's. I have tried uninstalling and restarting and the automatic restart says failed upon tying to reinstall the drivers. doesnt say why just failed installing. They do work if i try booting of a windows 7 usb. but once windows starts they read nothing.

Innotime2, Welcome to SF. Have you had a good look around in the bios to activate all the usb and legacy devices.

I think I may know the problem but not sure how to solve it without needing to reinstall windows. This drive was pulled directly from another laptop. So it may still have all it's drivers on it? i just noticed in device manager under my graphics driver it has a yellow !. And when i rt click then properties in status it says "Code 12. this device cannot find enough free resources it can use." so maybe the old drivers are messing it up?

linne- yeah went to bios and everything is enabled. Does boot sequence matter? should i put it as 1st or 2nd option? or just as long as it's enabled doesn't matter?

Best to leave the optical as 1st boot then OS or normally C drive as 2nd boot drive. Go online and use all updated drivers for the mobo, sound card, GPU the whole lot and then restart the rig and see what happens. Go to mobo mfgr's site and search your exact model board and have a good look around for updates. Then get the model of the GPU card if that's what you are running and either go to AMD or Nvidia and get the latest driver.
