I had windows 7 working on my pc. I recently installed windows 10. I kept both the os by installing windows 10 in separate partition from windows 7's. I have dual boot. In windows 10 usb ports works fine. My keyboard and mouse are usb ones. When i select windows 7 on the boot menu the system restarts and boot again. When the screen shows "starting windows" the usb ports go down ( i can see the lights in the keyboard and mouse go off) please help. Windows 7 was working perfectly before installing windows 7. My windows 7 is ultimate and 32 bit. Windows 10 is enterprise 64 bit version. I cannot access the device manager to download drives again in windows 7 because my keyboard and mouse don't work. Is there anyway i can copy files to the windows 7 system files while using windows 10. Or is there any other way??
Please help

"Windows 7 was working perfectly before installing windows 10"?

On BIOS, is fast boot enabled?

Might be helpful to do a clean install of Windows 7, in order to completely erase what is on the drive now, that is, Windows 10.

Also, is your computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
  • If your computer is 32-bit, then you cannot install a 64-bit version of Windows; you have to install 32-bit Windows.
  • If your computer is 64-bit, you could go with either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, although 64-bit Windows would be better if your computer is 64-bit.

Your computer should have a PS/2 port for use with an old PS/2 mouse. You can buy one on eBay.

1. How many front and rear USB ports does the computer have? Unplug keyboard and mouse and try in different USB ports. This should work as devices are plug and play.

2. Is both mouse and keyboard not working? You can use the keyboard Tab key to cycle through options if only mouse not working.

3. Boot into Installation DVD or Recovery DVD. Keyboard and mouse should work there. Initiate a System Repair from the Installation media/ Recovery media.
