User profile not accepted

I have only two users on my computer. Me an as individual and a "scan" user that was set up originally to handle scanning docs from my copier

here is the problem when I click on my name and enter my passwrod the following message appears "The User Profile Service service failed the login" "User profile cannot be loaded"

If I log into the "scans" icon and enter that password I have no issues but obviously not into any of my files.

I would like to be able to get into all my files and even if I created another user and pw I am concerned that the same issue will happen. i know little about this stuff so any help is appreciated
