user profile service failed login

Hi,
A couple weeks ago, my Dell studio XPS laptop started having startup issues. When restarting my computer, the "preparing to configure windows" message came up, then immediately it would reboot. At the time I fixed it by doing a system restore to before the windows update.
Well today I tried logging in and the message "user profile service failed login..." came up after which the system restarted. I tried doing a system restore, but it came up with an error 0x8000ffff. I've tried safe mode as well to no avail.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on what to do!!

Thanks Shawn,

I went to repair my computer after hitting F8, then went to the command prompt and got to the registry editor. I only have 3 SID keys, and none of them have a long number following...

I'm not sure how to do the other steps if I can't login to my computer. Do you have any advice?

Gerald,

This will need to be done from withing Windows and not a command prompt at boot though.

If need be, use the In Preparation: section to enable the built-in Administrator account to then be able to log in to it to do the tutorial to hopefully fix your user profile.
