I tried to boot up my Acer laptop windows 7 (obvious I guess) when the above phrase came on the screen after I had typed in my password. The second phrase is " User profile cannot be loaded"
This has never happened to me before, on this computer nor on any other.
I have logged off and restarted the machine several times with different amounts of waiting time inbetween.
I plugged the laptop into the main current, and when I clicked "OK" in response to the above messages, the computer went into download mode of updates (34 to be exact)
What do I do? How do I access windows? Do I try and change password? will it accept the changes even when it will not let me log on/in?
I am flummoxed

I followed all the advice but nothing works

Home premium repair disk is not available on line in disk nor USB. Safe mode does not come up on screen. It did once and when I clicked 'in safe mode' it went into list mode on black screen and then shut down going into upate loop of shutting down and starting up again installing updates and shutting down.
Now, for some reason, I am back at point A with 'no up load of user profile' notice. I do not have hard ware version of this Windows 7. I had a pack to down load from on line when I brought home the new computer....
What do I do now? Do I have to go to a repair shop?

Are you able to create a System Repair Disc or installation DVD/USB on another computer to boot from and do step 3 in the "In Preparation" section?

If you like, you could download an official Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 U (media refresh) X17-58997.iso file at the link below, ....

Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

...and create a bootable installation DVD or USB with the ISO file using the tutorial below.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31541-windows-7-usb-dvd-download-tool.html

Afterwards, you can boot from the installation DVD/USB to open a command prompt at boot to do step 3 in the "In Preparation" section below.

I pushed F2 button on start up and found myself in another realm. I took out and reinstalled the battery and now the laptop gives me safe mode blue screen option. I am on line with sick laptop in safemode with network connection. No sound. I did recovery, rebooted and stilll no possibility to log into my username profile. F2 information is that userprofile password is 'clear'. Does that mean that user profile password was erased? Many recovery and other interventions cannot be done in safe mode. The computer does not work in regular mode, I still cannot logon to user profile.

yes, but it seems I downloaded the wrong item. I do not know where my Windows7 activation key is so I went further down on their page and downloaded the image (DVD burning) software package (I wondered what that had to do with fixing the problem) instead of the 'fixit' one. I suppose that locating the activation key is the principle issue for me. I do have a legit Windows package, I just do not know where the ownership information is.
I do not think I am skilled enough to use the assistance provided in this forum. I do not know how to distinguish the relevant information for me. Is there a recuperation of activation key strategy?

You don't need your key since you're not installing Windows.

The Windows installation DVD is to be used to boot to a command prompt at boot to be able to enable your built-in Administrator account. Afterwards, to be able to log in to the built-in Administrator account to fix your user profile error. :)

New info: failed access to user profile & academic Windows bundles

So, learning curve: academic bundles do not have product keys as part of their package. I found myself at Acer help site, hearing that I either did a full recovery process (wiping clean and annulling the data on my entire user profile) or back up what ever I could and do a recovery process. No way I was going to lose data, and no item I had had enough memory for the back up. I found out how limited safe mode is, I could get on line, but I could not use Office, or my WD Hard Drive (at any of the few moments the computer recognised it)
I went to microsoft site to hear why the automatic back up had not been backing up OneNote material (where I store so much!) got on a chat service line. No product key/code/number was going to stop everything. I let them know that I would accept them going into my computer remotely and verify that it was a legit copy. Upshot: I paid for a year's worth of assistance. I could have had the one off service for half the price guaranteed results.
So, seems malware and my false security system of ADware anti virus (could have let in malware, as well) dumped alot of malware in my computer. Hours later, I have access to all of my material, did not have to go deep into my computer nor deep into town to a techie. Online service saved my day.
I thank you Brink for trying, but it was a lost cause, because of no product key to start with and clogged computer complicating things even more.
