Using bat file to tweak process priority.

Hey everyone, I am at school in a photoshop class and instead of spending 5-10 minutes changing the priority status of some useless programs that run in the background I wanna just use a bat file to do it all for me. Basicly the processes I am turning down are like the dell default programs that run in the background and whatnot. I spent about 2 hours on google and did not find any decent answer, anyone know how to do this?

I can't say I've ever read anything that tells me altering process priority will yield anything but an unstable system.

Neither have I but I have noticed that it will boost performance in certain instances, in my situation, it is increasing photoshop performance by about 15%, and no I am not joking. I am closing a few processes, but that is only boosting the performance by about 8%, so I guess that changing the priority of the useless tasks is only increasing performance by about 7% total.

You could just raise Photoshop to above normal. that would be more then enough...

one way of doing it would be with a simple cmd file.

start /high photoshop.exe

save it in the photoshop folder as photoshop.cmd, and just make a shortcut to it.

i think that will be safer than juggling around the priorities of other processes.

...and do you really need those dell default programs anyway?

How about creating another user that starts up without those background processes to begin with?
So all you'd do would be log off and log on to the PhotoShop account.
I don't own a dell...do you need those processes for anything useful? or is it just like the advisers and stuff that HP tries to start on a new system?
