Solved Using laptop as a desktop (lid closed)

Some background first. I live on a boat, with limited space for extras. I have 3 Win7 laptops (32 bit Home & Pro, 64 bit Pro) that I use for different things. I also have a Toshiba Dynadock (powered USB hub) to which my monitor and speakers are connected. By switching which machine the hub is plugged into, I can use each with the monitor and wireless keyboard & mouse.

My "problem" is storing the laptops. My question is, can I operate them with them standing on edge instead of flat? Seems like I should be able to, but would appreciate a more informed opinion, and/or any cautions about doing so.

I see no reason that this should not work. Just make sure that the cooling vents are not obstructed,

A laptop can operate in any position.

Just make sure to have not have anything blocking the ventilator and not put the laptop on soft plushy things like pillows or cats so to avoid overheating and animal abuse.
Also make sure the laptop stays stable, cause a heavy bumb may make the laptop's HDD very sick 'tick tick'.

If the laptop Hibernates on close of lid, Set 'When I close the lid' to 'Do Nothing' in power settings.
