Utorrent, and hair pulling

ok dudes, the ports are fine... unless it is some trickery in windows 7 that I cannot figure out. Everything is forwarded on the router correctly....

so i uninstalled utorrent and it turns out again even without it, the internets slows to a crawl after a time period....

(side note) I also cant get hamachi to run either.... users pop up but cannot ping? I have read and read faqs and guides with no luck....

this sucks because it only happens on the windows 7 computer... my XP and Vista comps work just fine.......

when you uninstalled and reinstalled utorrent did you try redownloading utorrent and installing the new download? i dont know what hamachi is so i cant help on that...

edit i just read what you said again i read it wrong the first time... didnt realize it was slow even after you uninstalled utorrent.

what kind of wireless adapter are you using? if you use a wired connection does your internet still slow down?

Sounds like you are a victim of ISP traffic shaping due to Windows 7's use of Teredo IPv6 tunneling: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teredo_tunneling]Teredo tunneling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

Look at the uTorrent log page right after starting up and see if it shows anything about Teredo -- it used to show up on the second line of the log file after startup when I had my old router that didn't support IPv6 NAT.

It's not suprising that your Hamachi is also affected as its similar in function to Teredo but for IPv4 connections.

Read this for more information about a free Google tool to detect this throttling.

Hello there , have you tried to increase the maximum number of half-open connections ?

You can go here download the program TCPZ and increase the maximum connections that way utorrent won`t eat up all of your bandwidth and hopefully everything will work smoothly.

If i close them all and restart then do a speed test my internet will suck again, restart the computer and we are golden..... and again this is only with win7, i can not replicate this with XP or vista...

I kinda have a similar problem. W7 seems to have issues with Homegroups and WER that choke the router, often requiring restarting the router. I can (sometimes but not always) copy files across my wireless network but when I try copying files across the Homegroup it starts then loses the connection and usually requires restarting the router.

uTorrent does some of the things described here also. Upload/download bandwidth cycles from fairly normal to zero and back, etc., slowing internet connections to almost nothing and sometimes crashing the router.
From what I've seen and read, I'm convinced Homegroup has something to do with it. Maybe there are other posts here that I haven't found yet.

You can also try these pretty cool patches and tweaks on speedguide.net

They are for Vista but i`ve personaly tryed`em and i can see some results in browsing.

Regarding Utorrent i have metropolitan acces here in Romania and the browsing does not crawl when in dw/up.

Check it out: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

You can also try many of the utorrent recommended settings found on google. Like disabeling the DHT network (if you are on private sites) and many more other options.

This is one of the guides but there are many more to find.
